We attended a national harp conference on the East Coast during the
Summer of 2008, after several years of planning to purchase a harp
for our family. During a blind "harp tasting" event that
featured about 20 harps, I identified one harp that sounded the best
in tone, clarity and mood to me; independently, my pianist wife and
her harpist friend also had this harp on their list of their 3 favorites.
But when the curtain was pulled back and my eyes quickly counted to
harp "No. 9", I was disappointed because I realized that
my favorite sounding harp was also the most beautiful on the stage,
and so I thought it would be far too expensive. We next visited the
3 harp booths, beginning with the other 2. We were pleasantly surprised
to the find that the favorite of all of us—Marini harp—to be the
lowest in price! Further research after the conference uncovered that
experienced harpists and instructors were very impressed with the sound,
workmanship and beauty of Marini harps. We had a Roma Rosa built for
our children and are absolutely delighted with it. Also, have been
very blessed by the devotional that the harp maker has written—makes
us feel even better about the spirit of the work that went into our
harp. We truly believe that we have come upon a yet-discovered musical
genius craftsman—a modern day "Stradivarius" whose instruments
are sure to be much higher valued once discovered.
